I have been testing out WP Auctions over the past day or two and wanted to share with you this cool little plugin. Before I go to far into WP Auctions, however, I want to thank Josh Alexander for leading me to WP Auctions. Plus, giving me an amazing idea of how to use it, which I will share more in the video and blog post below. Before we get to that let’s review how WP Auctions works.
WP Auctions Set Up
As you can see this is a relatively easy set-up. All I needed to create the page at AndyNathan.MarketLately.Com was the following:
1. WP Auctions-this is available in Plugin Installer option in WP-Admin or you can download it at WordPress.org and then FTP it to your site.
2. Elegant Themes-We discussed Elegant Themes two weeks ago during a Guru Gusher post, so check that out to learn more about how to access the Convertible theme that I used for this post.
Once you have done that you can easily set up an auction within 30 minutes. It was really that simple to do. No muss, No fuss! Just quick and easy to set up an auction.
Quick Note from the video. I followed the instructions in the back end to change the picture and was still not able to get the picture to work. Ce La Vie-Such is life! When I get it to work I will let you know.
Now, you probably noticed during the video that I was discussing how I am doing a Day With Andy. This was not just for this blog post. It is a real auction that I set up and am releasing here on this blog. So, if you want my services for the ridiculously low price of $100 then go over to: [hyperlink_large_centered link=”http://AndyNathan.MarketLately.com” + target=”_self”]A Day With Andy Getting Things Done![/hyperlink_large_centered]
Let me help you get your internet marketing strategy moving in the right direction! Let me help you create blog posts, build social connections, work on your internet marketing strategy, or whatever you choose for us to work on for those 8 hours. All you do to is go to the auction listed below to get started.

Then just follow the instructions on WP Auctions.
Using WordPress as an auction platform is an easy way to avoid paying seller fees and commissions to third party sites. Selling from your own website gives you full control over how you run your auction.
Absolutely! That is exactly why I brought this up.
WP Auctions is a revolutionary plugin which allows you to host auctions on your blog or website and to sell anything.
OMG Andy,
What an awesome idea! I didn’t know about WP auctions. What a great way to obtain new people! My wheels are turning already. You can do almost anything with this. I like the idea of being a service provider. An auction gets people to creates a buzz.
Thanks so much for introducing me to this.
Donna
Do these plugins both work well on multiite. This would be the only way I could see these being successful. For instance if you had a community site of gamers, these gamers could run their own auctions and sell to a community they know will be interested in what they are selling. SO low traffic (compared to ebay) but way more targeted.
Amrik,
Yes! I set this plugin up on WPMU. That is a great idea! Let me know what you come up with.
Andy
I have a bunch of stuff around the house that I was going to sell on Craigslist. This plugin looks like a great alternative to that. Plus, if you advertise on the internet you can create a local “garage sale” type auction site and sell peoples stuff on the internet for a commission similar to what people are doing with ebay.
Clint,
Absolutely! There is a premium version for some of things that you want to do, but you get the idea. why not create a specialized ebay store online?
