Over the last few weeks I switched to WordPress SEO by Yoast for my on-page content on my blog. Over the years I have had several different SEO services on my site. They are all good in their own way, but I really like the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin, because of it’s interface and ease of use. It just seems like a better platform in the long run to help me with my search engine optimization.
WordPress By SEO Yoast Features
The WordPress SEO By Yoast plugin is great, because it has simple instructions to help you know exactly what your page will look like on Google and how to get the most out of your SEO efforts with every blog post. They even have a keyword research tool that gives you related keywords for your focus keyword.
Additionally, WordPress SEO by Yoast has a color coded system for telling you what aspects of your page are SEO compliant and what parts of your on-page SEO needs work. I love that, because I know exactly what I can add to my blog posts to get the maximum SEO traffic possible.
However, this plugin is not just helpful for single posts and pages. It is also a great tool to use for your entire website. They have everything on the plugin from XML Sitemaps to RSS Feed options to Importing and Exporting your SEO Data settings.
WordPress SEO By Yoast As Presented by SEO Data Transporter
That actually brings up a cool little trick that I performed this morning as I was researching WordPress SEO by Yoast. Some of my SEO traffic has decreased over the past 30 days. At first I thought it was because of the new Google Penguin updates. However, I believe that it was because I switched from Platinum SEO to WordPress SEO by Yoast.
This was another example of the Social Networking Blog Duh List. However, in this instance I was able to quickly repair the damage with the SEO Data Transporter Plugin. As you will see in the movie above it makes it easy to transfer SEO data from one plugin to another. In this case I transferred SEO data from Platinum SEO to WordPress SEO by Yoast. That is what we call, “DA BOMB!”
Back To WordPress SEO BY Yoast
This little SEO plugin is such an amazing tool for increasing my search traffic. Especially with the new Google Penguin updates small business owners need every advantage they can find to make sure their content ends up on the first page of Google. WordPress SEO by Yoast definitely helps with your SEO efforts.
Thanks for this very informative post and the clip is amazing!
Following all of the above WordPress SEO advice, you’ve got a big chance of becoming successfull, both as a blogger and in the search engines.
Completely agree!
That plugin seems to be very interesting! I would love to try it out.
Let me know how that works?
Hi Andy, Kevin Stacey here..
I was pointed here by Jeff Bullas’ tweet last night. I think it’s very interesting that you’ve switched to WordPress SEO by Yoast from Platinum SEO, have you noticed a significant difference in site rankings in such as short period of time or do you just enjoy using the plugin more?
I’ve found that for optimization, free plugins like WordPress SEO by Yoast and All in One SEO are really great as they lay down the basic SEO foundation for a WordPress site, but every blog is different and nothing works best for everyone.
I always suggest looking at a side-by-side comparison of the best seo plugins for WordPress in order to make an informed decision of what the best plugin is for that blogger and their website’s specific needs.
Here’s my most recent write-up on the subject:

Great article btw…I’ll be referencing this post on my main blog.
Kevin,
Thank you very much! It is too early for me to tell the difference between the plugins. Part of the problem was that Platinum SEO was not showing up correctly on the theme I was using. Give me a month and then I will track results. Part of the problem was that once I switched from Platinum to WordPress SEO my SEO traffic took a huge hit, because I did not use the SEO Data Transporter right away.
I should have a better feel for the numbers by the end of June.
On another note, that is an awesome breakdown of SEO plugins on your site.
Andy
I use both the Yoast plugin and All In One SEO Pack for websites I design for myself and customers. I must say that now the plugin from Yoast is “mature” enough for me to use it extensively. I don’t like much the XML sitemap generator, but obviously it can be replaced; just do not activate it and install a plugin you like. The SEO compliance analysis is what sold me that plugin at first. I will try to migrate a website to Yoast when I find th etime to plan for possible disasters!
Angelo,
I have never used Yoast’s XML sitemap generator. I generally use XML Sitemap for that. I hope you avoid the disaster altogether.
Andy
Aw, this was a very nice post. Taking the time and actual effort to produce a great
article but what can I say I procrastinate a lot and don’t seem to get anything done.
If you need help with creating articles please let me know.
Nice brother..i will use this plugin.
Cool! Tell me what you think of it!
