When did you start using social networking? When we first opened. However, it wasn’t until last month when we really started to fully understand the power of social networking.
How did you start learning about social networking platforms? In-person event, classes, webinars, on the job experience? Andy Nathan introduced us to muplitple platforms. Everyone knows about twitter and facebook but he helped us explored several other options.
What is your favorite social networking site for business? Why? Twitter because it is the best way to connect with people immediately. We can communicate quick messages to our followers especially when we had a fire next door.
Do you have a specific strategy that you use to be more effective when using social networking? The best strategy is to match your goals with the correct social network. There is no one right answer. You have to understand your business, and then have your strategy match your business approach.
How has it changed your business? It has really helped us to not only connect with more customers but other businesses as well.
What was your biggest mistake in social networking? Not using it enough.
What would you tell people starting out in social networking to focus on today? Try not to focus on everything but find a few networks that work for you and really make that page your own.
What direction do you see social networking going in the future? Additional use of sites, such as Google Places and Foursquare.
Thanks Flourish for your social networking power profiles this week! Great to see about how retail businesses are using social networking.
