Social networking all comes down to the 4P’s. It is simply not possible to ignore this lesson in basic marketing. The 4P’s are the basic part of marketing, and if you are going to market yourself through social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others you need to have a basic understanding of how they work.

That is why this week is Marketing Week. A return to a simpler time when marketing was the basic information you needed to be successful.I guess that is why you might want to know what the 4P’s are?

The 4P’s Are

  1. Product
  2. Price
  3. Place
  4. Promotion

4P’s explained

  1. Product-What are you selling. Pretty simple right?  If you have nothing to sell, I hear you might not be in business. Details!
  2. Price- Do you have a widget to sell for $1 million or a property to sell for $1. Wait a second. Maybe we should reverse that. Better know before you start selling.
  3. Place-Since this is a lesson in the 4P’s for social networking maybe you should use that as the gateway to sell your wares. Or maybe you are directing people to a website or just a phone call to seal the deal that starts on Facebook or LinkedIn.
  4. Promotion- This might be a little surprising, but you might want to use social networking to promote your products. The fact is that traditional marketing talks about how you should have outlets for your products. Being able to also use multiple channels helps as well.

As you can see, when you get past the terminology marketing the 4P’s is very simple. Just plan ahead, so you can get the most of the 4P’s when you are marketing your business.
