Social Networking Minute: Facebook Friends Lists

This weeks social networking minute is all about culling your Facebook friends lists. If you do not have Facebook friends lists then check out our Facebook Basics discussion where we talk about staying in touch with Facebook friends. For right now, however, let us return to the subject of culling our Facebook Friends list.

I think I have discussed this in the distant past, but the reality is that when I first started on Facebook I connected with everyone who sent me a request. That is fine when you are starting out, but once you have enough friends on Facebook you want to have space for people who actually do impact your business. For that reason, I started removing people who were not communicating with me. Conversely, people I thought were just not a good fit for me got removed as well.

The easiest way for me to do this was through Facebook friends. Below is a sample of how I go through my Facebook friends list and remove people that I do not want to talk with, or start up conversations with people that I have not spoken to in a little while.

Social Networking Minute: Pinterest Group Boards

With a new website we have…the same old social networking minute discussing Pinterest Group Boards. Fear not! We have not forgotten this long awaited Friday post tradition. This week’s social networking minute discusses Pinterest Group Boards as ways to create additional relationships and grow your Pinterest following faster.  The video below explains how you can set up your own board. However, do not neglect opportunities to join other peoples group boards as well.

Now for your optimal viewing pleasure we present:

Social Networking Minute: Pinterest Group Boards

Pinterest Group Boards Are Great For Three Reasons:

1. Create Connections With Other Pinners

2. Leverage Pins, So You Do Not Have To Do All Of The Work

3. Drive More Traffic, Because More Pinners Allow Larger Groups With Larger Followings

Hope this helps clarify the benefits of using Pinterest Group Boards. Let me know in the comment section below if you have any questions, or wish to join the Business Pinterest Group Board.

Social Networking Minute: Google Plus Events With Google Plus Hang Out On Air Feature

This weeks social networking minute is going to cover a new feature out of the many that Google Plus added in the recent update of their site. While the feature definitely has a more Pinterest type look to the site, they did add a number of cool new features. The one that I want to talk about is Google Events. Yes, we did talk about Google Plus Events on a previous Social Networking Minute this year. However, they finally, and I say this with emphasis! They finally added Google Hang Out On Air to the Google Event page options. This was something that seriously needed to be addressed in the previous edition.

While, I am still not sure about some of the dizzying new moves that Google makes on other fronts, I have to say that their hang out system is far and away the coolest video conferencing system around. My respect and admiration for the Hang Out team knows no bounds. Some of the things that I am using Google Hang Out on Air for are mind boggling. Probably another blog post.

However, for today let’s focus on the feature that I am discussing. In this brief, yes, brief Social Networking video below I discuss how to use this new feature on Google+

Social Networking Minute: Google Plus Communities

Google just released their new Google Plus Communities. This is the social networks group feature to go along with the other social features for Google Plus. We will explore the community feature in this week’s Social Networking Minute.

I recommend you log onto your Google plus account as we go through the video below, so you can quickly get started with the new Google Plus Communities. They are simple to join, interact, and create. Perfect place to make some great connections.

Social Networking Minute: Google Plus Communities

Google Plus Communities Review

First, here is the Social Media Community I create on Google Plus from the video.

Second, this is a cool feature to the site. It might be one of the best they have used to help people connect with each other on the social network. My only question is what took them so long to create Google communities. It just seems like something you would create at the start to help people connect with each other.

The feature actually makes more sense than the convoluted Google Plus Pages, which are confusing to navigate and understand with the Google Plus Local interface.

I hope this helped you have a greater understanding of how the Google Plus Communities work.  Looking forward to seeing you in a community sometime in the near future. What are your thoughts on the new communities?

In this week’s social networking minute let’s discuss forum posting. Using forums for your business is a tremendous benefit, because some of these forums have been around for years and have thousands and hundreds of thousands of participants. In fact, forums were some of the first social networks. They are a tremendous place to connect with targeted prospects, due to the large number of forums on the internet today.

This social networking minute uses Warrior Forum to show how to do forum posting for your business.

Now, the big question? How do you use forum posting for your business?
